Reading Through ECWF Starrcade 19: My Honest Thoughts

RESULTS: https://ecwf4ever.proboards.com/thread/16382/starrcade-xix-25-2026

Today I'm gonna look at ECWF's Starrcade 19.

Bear with me as I'm going to write this as I read the show and then give my overall thoughts afterwards.

Apparently, it's a two-night show, so this is going to be a long read, I'm sure.

Night one opener starts in Madison Square Garden, typical normal big show feel.

I like how this started off with the commentators doing a back and forth and then "are you ready for the show to start" type of thing. It gave it a realistic feel to it.

First match is Ahmed the Egyptian versus El Anderson. You know what? This show is actually written pretty good. I've never been a fan of the brackets for description. I don't know why, but I like italicize, but this isn't so bad. I do wish, though, so far that this was left aligned and not center aligned. I've always not been a fan of center aligned. I don't know, it's just maybe my OCD.

The commentary team speaks very natural, I like that. The writer of this match has definitely captured a realistic flow, which is good.

Ahmed the Egyptian is speaking in, I'm guessing, Egyptian, but there's also English subtitles, which is good for the reader, because obviously we don't want to open up Google Translate during. But I always like to mess with people and just keep the untranslated version in. Make them work for it.

The match wasn't very long, but it was written very well, so I can really appreciate that. I feel maybe this won't be as long of a read as I first thought it was going to be, but still entertained by the first match.

All right, we go right into the next match. We got Akenji Hara versus John Blade in the Boiler Room Brawl for the Horror-core Championship.

At first, I was going to complain that there was no segment in between, but with it being in a boiler room, I guess that's okay. I still would probably keep realism by having a backstage segment or a commercial, because typically you won't find shows go match to match, but we'll ignore that for today.

I know the first match was short. This one is too, but I think the problem may be there's a lot of description, not enough commentary splitting up the match itself. So it's coming off even shorter. But at the point of that, this is a Boiler Room Brawl, so you would think that in general, it would just be longer. A little let down and disappointed by the length of this one.

Going right into the next tag match for the Tag Team Championships, once again, no segment. I could forgive it because we're going from a boiler room to the ring, but so far, the only thing realistic has been the commentary in the matches and the start of the show. It's kind of weird not having a segment up to this point. I know a lot of people complain about too many segments, but no segments at all just feels odd.

Another short match here. Commentary not as good as it was in the first match or even the second match. I'm not sure if it's the same writer or a different writer, but you can absolutely tell the difference.

Now we go into another ladder match. Once again, no segment to split anything up. I've gotten to the point to where I found myself skimming, unfortunately. That probably stems from the fact that this looks like just another quickly thrown together short match. I feel that maybe the card being so big put too much pressure on the match writer or match writers. They started off strong, but to this point, we're hitting just small matches, commentary already kind of just not where it was, and the same flow throughout.

Once again, no segment, going straight into Fatal 4 tag match, and within seconds of the bell, it's already out of control, which would be great if it wasn't like a two-sentence line getting us to that point. It literally acts as ding, ding, ding, no tags needed. Everyone rushes in, eight-man brawl immediately. Some guys are trading strikes, takedown, already out of control. I feel that there was plenty of room there to add a lot more description with commentary to add a realistic feel to it.

One more thing I wanna bring up, I never understood capitalizing description. I get that it's exciting, but shouldn't you leave that for commentary?

We move on to a Next-Gen Championship match, and this one is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 mini paragraphs. And when I say mini paragraphs, I mean one to two sentences, if that, for the entire match. This one, it's like there wasn't much of an attempt at all to write something out.

To be perfectly fair, I'm enjoying this because I like a shorter show when I'm reading, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. For the people who enjoy realistic matches, so far, this show is not for you, but for the average everyday e-fedder who just wants to see if their character wins or loses, this probably fits well.

Our first segment of the show is half of the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees. Basic segment, things are, it's just kind of there. I feel like I am seeing some kind of difference in the writing, which I'm going to look up real quick, and I am right. There is italics for action in the last one, and this one goes back to the brackets. I could tell whoever wrote this definitely wrote the opening segment of the show. They might have written the whole thing, but I can definitely tell this was written in that exact same style. I like it. It's not too long, but it does get everything across, and I enjoy finally seeing the segment.

World Heavyweight Championship match is next. I do like how they used the referee picture to hold the belt up. A lot of people complain about AI being utilized in results and stuff. I don't, obviously, but I think it was used really well here, and I like how that adds some realism to it.

This match has a mix of the italics and the brackets, so I'm assuming it's the same writer for everything. They're just kind of picking and choosing as they're doing this. I'm not sure if they're writing it live and posting it, or if they are writing it and then posting it later. It does look like, from the timestamps, that it potentially is being written and posted as they're doing them, so if that's the case, that would explain the shorter matches. I might be wrong, but I'm thinking that's why we started off so strong and now we're getting to this point.

Main event for the Women's Championship is next. I like that. Put the women up top. A lot of eFeds don't do that. They tend to keep the old school men running at the top and men's championships at the top, but we do have the Women's World Championship for the main event of at least night one.

Once again, it does look like this is posted later, so I'm going to definitely lean on that. These are being written and posted as they're doing them. I'm not in the fed. I couldn't tell you. I would like it if someone from the ECWF would reach out and let me know if I'm right or not.

My suggestion for this type of thing is don't do this. Yeah, it's cool. It has a live result feel to it, but I'm being pulled out of my reading by the various different formatting used, obviously. So you have to look at that. You want to stay consistent and keep your results looking nice. So it's always better to try to aim to have your show day a day after you know you'll be able to finish writing so that you have a chance to format and then post all together. Just my feedback there.

All right, we're going into night two, and instantly, I can tell you this is not the same person who wrote it. Someone else posted it. Someone else wrote it. The format is completely different than night one. So that's different. I don't know how else to put it, but we're gonna go ahead and start.

The introduction is not quite as easy to imagine in a realistic form as night one was, but it gets the point across. It's straight to it. I think adding lines in to break up the talking and all that stuff isn't needed. It seems like a little much, but the commentary team does have a pretty good little back and forth. I wish they interacted more with each other than just one person talking about each match. Let's have a little back and forth talk. Otherwise, it does what it's supposed to, and in its own way, it's special.

Lucha rules match is first. I like how they break up the entrances, the match, and the winner. That's kind of neat. That's kind of cool. It still comes from the problem of not being long in terms of there's description and there's commentary, but it doesn't feel like you would be watching a match, especially something that is lucha rules. Being in pro wrestling, lucha matches go crazy, so I know they're usually a little bit longer.

I do have a complaint about whoever wrote this. We need spaces between commentary, description, and all that. Right now, it's literally just a line break with no space in between them. It's period, next line, period, next line. It's hard to read. I keep finding myself going back and forward, and that style just isn't working.

We go right into match two, World Trios Tag Championship match. Trios. We don't see enough of that in wrestling. Just want to throw that out there.

Once again, another basic match. This one's longer, though, which is good. I think that night two's match writer would benefit from adding spacing because that would make the match definitely feel like it's a lot longer than it looks. The commentary discussion really isn't there. It's more of the commentators talking about what's just happening for the most part, unless I'm getting my commentary mixed up with description because of the lack of spacing.

The match goes into a segment right after the match that happens out there. It actually has spaces. It's easy to read. I think maybe someone else wrote it, or they just did it the way that I would expect it on this one, but it could have been tacked on to the end of the actual match.

We have two more matches before a special vignette, so that's kind of cool. We finally have a segment, I would say, on night two. The screen cuts to black, and then we get a promo from someone, it looks like Jane Jacobs coming soon, the Queen Slayer. So, really excited to see a segment finally. This one, once again, the formatting is not there. I'm not sure if it's the way the person pasted stuff in or not, but that's taking me out of it.

Looks like match 5, the World Mixed Tag Team Championship match, is easier to read. It has spacing. And just as I thought, while it's a short match, it feels longer with the spacing. So I feel that this writer should make sure that they're always pasting in this format if possible. You gotta have that spacing.

So far, the longest match of either night is the men's 2026 Gold Rush contract ladder match. Really good stuff again, but it's feeling the lack of commentary back and forth breaking up the description.

I went ahead and finished reading the show. It's the same things I would say for everything else in terms of what else went on with the matches.

I will say for this particular show, the things that I didn't really care for is the formatting. I don't care for how either night was put together. I feel there's a lot of improvement that could be made.

I also find it weird there's no segments. Yeah, there's a few minor segments, but they really needed something to break up the matches. I'm wondering, are the handlers just not participating by submitting stuff? Are the fedheads not telling stories between matches? Is it because this is a pay-per-view type of show and they feel that the story has already been told? So here are a lot of unanswered things, but as someone just kind of reading it themselves for the first time, it took me out of that.

And then match length, I think that needs to be addressed as well, and I think it could easily be addressed by adding more commentary banter in and out.

The things I did like, though, is the writing that was there is really good. It really is. And I think that's why I'm being so harsh on the fact that the matches are short, because I like what I'm reading.

So I hope that if someone from the fed reads this review, they'll understand that the whole reason I'm pushing so hard for you to improve upon the stuff is because I'm enjoying it.

Overall, formatting, the show's not really there. Match length of the show needs improvement. Writing show's pretty good. I would enjoy it.

So with that being said, I wanna say thank you to ECWF for putting on this show, and I did enjoy my time reading it. I hope that you take something I said here and it helps, or you don't. It's up to you.
