What eWPlace Really Is

I wanted to preface this by saying that I've been in the hobby of e-wrestling since the mid-1990s. I've been doing this longer than most of you probably have been alive. Which is crazy to think about.

In that time, I have written thousands of matches and shows, hundreds of columns, and a lot more.

When the pandemic hit in 2019, I stepped away from the game, and I focused on my career in professional wrestling, something I have been a part of since 2001, and film.

I'm very lucky that I am a professional wrestling personality, in that I do well enough in professional wrestling that I pay my bills, and I don't have to have what we call a "shoot job". I'm proud of that I've had the privilege to perform in two countries, 24 states, and have received checks from both AEW and TNA (as Impact). This is a big accomplishment for me, and I worked hard to get where I am.

The latest, award-winning, film I led post production and editing on even released worldwide yesterday on Amazon and other mediums. That's pretty cool too.

However, I found last year that I was starting to get the itch to get back into the hobby. So, I opened up my eFed again after several years of being closed, and I started the website for eWPlace. But it wasn't until just recently that I went all in on eWPlace, trying to get as much content out as possible.

Now, I wanted to say all of that to come here today and talk to you about what eWPlace actually is.

It is a tool to promote any eFed or writer in the hobby that wants their work to be seen.

eWPlace is, at its core, is also a resource site. That resource for our hobby is to provide tools that can be used to not only play the game, but to discover the game.

By providing columns, we offer a unique insight into different aspects of fantasy wrestling. And yeah, I'm not an award-winning writer. I'm not a college-educated editor. I'm a guy who's been doing this a long time, and I've written a lot. So today I do utilize tools such as AI, and I encourage people who work with me to utilize tools such as AI to publish their articles in a more editorial tone. But to start, all the articles are pretty much handwritten, or at least the core ideas are there.

But the columns are just one part of what we do.

A big thing is our eFed Directory, which is literally just a linked database to as many feds as we can get time to put in there. And currently, our show reviews, which my friend Colin has been writing for us several times a week and getting out there.

These show reviews aren't hit pieces. These show reviews might mention things disliked or found confusing, but you're not going to find anyone tearing anything apart. And the reason for that is because over the years in this hobby, we've seen what happens when you bring a biased attitude into your writing and what happens because of it.

This is a place for everyone.

And the show reviews aren't really to review the show, in all honesty. The show reviews are to promote the eFed in which the show happened. It's another tool that eWPlace is using to get your eFed links out there and writing seen.

We don't profit from anything that we write. In fact, it cost me to do everything that I do in the hobby.

We don't ask you to do anything for us that you don't want to do. We don't even ask that you link back to us if you don't want to. All we're doing is putting your eFed's results, as well as other information about your eFed, out there so that it can be discovered by people already in the game, or maybe by someone stumbling across eWPlace and discovering the game for the first time.

Imagine being so mad about a website that is giving free promotion to the hobby that you say that you love, that you participate in, that you're a champion of an eFed in, that you want to spew hateful words about it online.

Maybe the fact that we do use and even promote AI as a way to polish our items and get them out there in a more editorial tone is an issue. I understand that AI is not everybody's cup of tea. That's okay.

But I would also like to mention the fact that over the last few weeks, I have been promoting on the website as well as Twitter, or X these days, I guess, that I am looking for people to write new, exclusive, handwritten columns for eWPlace.

I've even offered to pay.

I understand it can't all be polished by AI. I understand it can't all just be something that is either semi or completely generated. I know this. That's why I've given people the opportunity to get their opinions heard and get their writing out there, to get their skills of writing in our hobby put to more use than just roleplays.

It's something that I've noticed is lacking these days. People tend to not want to do more than what is needed from them for themselves, unfortunately.

The person whose name and image I've hidden in what I shared has had every opportunity to write a piece and send it in. They've had every opportunity to say, "I don't like what they're putting out there. Let's see if I can get other people to maybe put something else out."

And then all they would have to do is say, "Hey, here's some content for you to post"

As long as it's not something that's bashing people or overly biased, I mean, to an extent, bias is okay if you're writing a column about your eFed. Those columns are fine too.

But to not contribute to the hobby overall, yet have an opinion about a place contributing to people without expecting anything in return, just shows what type of person you are.

I wasn't even going to post what I posted originally in response to this, because I felt it was beneath me. But the opinion really struck home hard with me, because those are the type of opinions I would love to get on eWPlace.

I don't want a site in which every opinion on there is my own, or even pro what we do

If this person, or someone else, wants to write "Why does e-wrestling need a place like eWPlace? I don't think they do," and submit that, I would gladly post that as well, because everyone in the hobby, their opinion matters.

It doesn't matter who you are, what type of e-wrestling you do, how long you've been in the game, or any of that noise.

Now, am I upset at this handler? No.

I don't know who this person is. I don't know how old they are. I don't know how long they've been in the game. I've heard of a couple of the feds that they say they're in, but I know nothing about them.

So I just wanted to sit down and write, without the help of AI, something to tell you guys what eWPlace's actual purpose is.

And that purpose is to promote you with no strings attached.

And if people don't like that, if people don't like the fact that we're helping get everyone out there that we can, then that's not on us, and that's okay.

As for you guys who do like eWPlace, who do like seeing your eFed's name in the database, who do like seeing your results posted on our website, being shared through our tweets, reposts, or whatever they're called these days, thank you.

And our door is always open.

Yes, I will pay the right people for the right kind of consistent content, but I'm also always open to taking almost anything you guys send in.

Handwrite it. Polish it in AI. I don't care.

This is a collaborative hobby, and we all need to work together to keep a historical record of everything that's happening and everything that's going down right now, and help others be seen.

Thank you to those who are reading this and have gotten this far. I appreciate you.

I'm going to continue to do what I do, and if you don't like it, that's okay too. You don't have to click.

I do want to say thank you, though, to the few people who found eWPlace from these negative X posts, and told me that's how they found us. It's been really interesting and eye-opening to see that a negative can be turned into a positive as well.

Thanks for your time and reading my un-AI-polished writing tonight. Now, back to promoting YOU!

Got an opinion, idea, or a contribution? Hit me or Collin up. We'd love to hear from you.
