THE ROAD TO 50: ROUND TWO — THE DRAFT ERA BEGINS

If you’re reading this, you already know the spark that lit this fire.

Yesterday, I wrote about the Road to 50 — a mission to map the entire e‑wrestling landscape, to shine a light on every corner of the scene, to treat breadth as a virtue instead of a burden.

Curt Candid read it.

Curt Candid responded.

Curt Candid… Candid‑Commented.

And in classic Curt fashion, he didn’t nibble around the edges.

He bit straight into the center of the apple and said:

“Five federations covered well is better than fifty covered poorly.”

That’s Curt.

That’s his lane.

That’s his Road Less Traveled.

And here’s the thing:

He’s not wrong.

But neither am I.

This isn’t a rivalry.

This is a philosophical fork in the road — and today, we build a bridge between the two.

Curt Wants Depth. I Want Breadth. So Let’s Draft.

Curt says ten federations is the ceiling for meaningful coverage.

I say fifty is the horizon worth chasing.

So instead of arguing about it, I made a decision:

Curt gets first pick.

I get the next.

Twelve rounds.

Ten federations each.

Two alternates apiece.

A 20‑fed coverage map built through competition and collaboration.

Curt gets to sharpen his scalpel.

I get to widen my lens.

And the scene gets something it’s never had before:

A dual‑columnist, dual‑philosophy, dual‑coverage ecosystem.

This is no longer a solo mission.

This is a draft.

Why a Draft Changes Everything

Because suddenly the math shifts.

One columnist covering fifty?

Lofty.

Two columnists covering twenty?

Doable.

Three columnists covering thirty?

Likely.

Four columnists covering forty?

Inevitable.

And if a fifth shows up?

Well…

Now we’re talking about the full ecosystem.

The Road to 50 stops being a dream and becomes a distributed mission.

Not one person carrying the load.

A newsroom.

A team.

A federation of federations.

The Draft Isn’t Just a Gimmick — It’s a Framework

Curt gets to pick the federations he believes define the scene.

I get to pick the federations that deserve discovery.

His list will be sharp, curated, disciplined.

Mine will be broad, curious, adventurous.

Together?

We create the first 20‑Fed Coverage Map in e‑wrestling history.

And here’s the twist:

Every columnist who joins eWPlace gets their own draft.

Imagine:

- A historian drafting feds based on legacy

- A newcomer drafting feds based on accessibility

- A roleplayer drafting feds based on character work

- A critic drafting feds based on storytelling

- A scout drafting feds based on rising talent

Suddenly, the Road to 50 isn’t a column.

It’s a department.

Curt’s Philosophy Doesn’t Kill the Dream — It Fuels It

Curt said something important in his column:

“The writers come first. The content comes first.”

He’s right.

But here’s the part he didn’t say — the part I’m saying now:

The writers deserve to be seen.

And the scene deserves to be mapped.

Depth without breadth becomes a bunker.

Breadth without depth becomes a blur.

But depth and breadth?

That’s a blueprint.

That’s a newsroom.

That’s a platform.

That’s a legacy.

So Here’s My Challenge to Curt Candid

Curt, you get first pick.

Name your ten.

Name your two alternates.

I’ll name mine.

Twelve rounds.

Twenty federations.

Two columnists.

One mission.

Let’s show the scene what coverage looks like when two philosophies collide and collaborate.

And Here’s My Challenge to Everyone Else

If you’re reading this and thinking:

“I could do this.

I could cover a fed.

I could write a column.”

Then step up.

Join the draft.

Join the newsroom.

Join the mission.

Because the Road to 50 was never meant to be walked alone.

Objective Achieved? Not Yet. But Now It’s Possible.

Yesterday, the Road to 50 was a dream.

Today, it’s a draft.

Tomorrow, it becomes a team.

And with every new columnist who answers the call, the horizon gets closer.

Fifty federations isn’t noise.

Fifty federations is a network.

And we’re building it.

One pick at a time.

One column at a time.

One mile at a time.

The Road to 50 continues.

And now?

I’m not walking it alone.
