James "Sarge" Brown
Posted on June 25, 2025
From 2013.
OK, thanks for agreeing to spend some time with me today Let’s go ahead and begin. For those who may not be sure, who are you and what may they have known you from in eWrestling?
I handled Jaime Alejandro in the NWC, NAFW and SHOOT. There’s another place, but not giving them any fucking publicity. Ever. And also, you should know me as Sarge from ewSmart/prjkt10, where Jas Kaos and I wrote.
How did you first discover eWrestling? Tell us that story.
I was bored in recovery around late 2003 to early 2004. I was medically discharged from an injury. So, I had a lot of time to kill and very little else to do. So, I met a few people in the NWC, and it piqued my interest. I started out using my real name, a huge rookie goof. From there, Matt Ervin and Len Aarons helped me out forming the person we know as Jaime Alejandro. Of course, if they were still here, feds like the last one I was in probably wouldn’t be on my radar…
What are some other notable, or not so notable, eFeds that you have been in over the years that you can think of?
From the top… National Wrestling Council, NAFW, True Talent Wrestling, SHOOT Project, Powers of Wrestling, Minnesota Wrestling Federation. As far as the non-notable, fuck them.
What are some other notable or not so notable characters you have handled, if any?
Of course, Jaime Alejandro. I handled Logan Page as the part owner of ZuWar. The Garcia Twins aka the Crimson Riot over in SHOOT.
With your time in the hobby, have you ever brought in someone new? Maybe a friend, a cousin, a girlfriend even?
I met my ex-wife in the hobby, fool. No, seriously. Had a wife that was a Canadian citizen, so lived there for a whole minute. She was into sci-fi roleplaying and from there, she got into this “utterly fucking ridiculous sport.”
If you could hang out with anyone else you’ve met in the hobby who would it be and why?
Hmm, I’ll hang out with just about anyone who’s got the right amount of ego, honestly. Mainly, it’s okay to be high on your fed. Just don’t irritate the rest of us.
In your time in eWrestling, who are some other of your favorite people, that you have worked with?
People may scratch their head, but I did like working with Jas. He wasn’t bad to work with. I also liked working with Jeremy M., who portrays Isaac Entragian. Dave H., who portrays Tanya Black. Also, I did enjoy working with Dube, although we don’t keep up much these days.
Are there any handlers that you have never had the chance to work with that you wish you could?
I want to work with… J the Ripper, Lee Best, Scottywood, the guys from Defiance, the guys from Warped…
How about handlers/characters that have rubbed you the wrong way? Anyone you just can’t stand?
You have enough time for this, Ben… There’s an entire fed full of people.
What are some of your favorite angles or storylines that you have been involved with?
My favorite angle of all time involves Isaac Entragian over in SHOOT. That nearly year long feud of near death was amazing. I would do it again in a minute.
Is there anything you’ve done that you look back on and wonder why you did it in the first place?
Left SHOOT in the huff I did. Let’s say I was talked to by someone who didn’t have my best interests in mind. And that person ended up being a complete snake.
Are there any other eFeds or sites you keep up with, and if so what interest you about them?
I’m starting to like The E-Fed Truth, hopefully he can keep going. Mainly because we can’t always just harp the truth all the time. And sometimes I’ll sound bitter if I let it all out.
Any regrets or accomplishments you never achieved in the hobby?
Regret, period, that I have was leaving SHOOT. I was talked up a big game, told the grass was greener on the other side. Of course, at the time I was dealing with a bout of depression and sickness galore. I wasn’t healthy, and I was burned out with SHOOT. So, you have this mouth talking on the other end, Ben. If you’re depressed and sick, and you don’t feel like the people who know you are really understanding you… You see what this new voice is saying. Worst career move ever. And if anyone figures out what that place is, run far and run fast.
As far as accomplishments go, I wouldn’t mind an actual major championship somewhere. I won the Foundation Heavyweight Championship back in NAFW. And I won the Iron Fist Title in SHOOT. And I founded the Sin City Title along with Brandon Hughes, who took his CBM character to heights as the longest reigning Tag Team Champion… Which I would like the SHOOT Heavyweight Championship sometime, when I’m ready to get back into RPing competitively, and when Josh and I finally just bury the hatchet.
How much longer do you see yourself in or associated with the hobby?
Actively… I can’t tell you, Ben. I could say I’m retired forever… then someone comes along and asks me when I’m dusting Jaime off from the funk of that place. As far as behind the scenes with you, you’ll have to kick my ass out of the ewScene press box.
How has eWrestling in general changed since you first started, and where do you see it going into the future?
eWrestling when I started was in that cusp between the AOL chatroom and the frat boy nature of the NWC. To give perspective, I started in NWC:South with Christopher Smith (“The Icon” Chris Smith) and Jade Reynolds-Constanti. And Jade was my teacher, I’ll forever love Mama Jade.
But I see it going one of two ways, as a reporter, I’m wanting to steer it the right way. When I see the twitter IC/OOC bullshit, I get pissed off. Like someone like James Shark mouthing off on twitter 24/7, I’m want to yell, get the fuck off twitter you asshat. In the other fashion, I see feds like HOW, Defiance and j0lt who are doing shit their way. I see feds that are doing it their own way as the future of eWrestling.
Nobody should copy Vince McMahon. Vince is 3rd generation promoter/carny fuck. You should be your own Lee Best, your own Justin, your own Jon Tees. Your own person, and how you want to run eWrestling. That’s the true future. This sport is your pearl. You want a future, do your own thing. Don’t be wanking off as wrestling fan fiction. This is eWrestling, not eSlashFiction.
Have you ever dabbled in the fed heading side of eWrestling?
Two places. I was chosen to be a fedhead with NAFW. And for people who think fedheading is an easy job. Wrong. Fedheading can be a thankless profession. And you’re always on call, even when you’re not. I made bonehead decisions with fedheading. I’ve apologized to people for them, but you live and learn.
I also dabbled in ZuWar. Jas and I were doing alright with it, but he always wanted a third party. I ran the technical side of things, Jas did the booking. And we had some very bad third wheels. And one of the third wheels killed ZuWar. Let’s be honest. The last third wheel helped kill it with their mouth. And I was took sick to stop that bleeding.
And in the other place, I was practically the damned webmaster. Truth be told, you look there and you can find where I put in my time. As one person put it, the other person couldn’t even hold a candle to what I did in mere months over what they sat on their hands for years with a thumb up their ass.
How was the original transition from handler to fed head?
Rough. Very rough. Because as a handler, it’s always easy to yell at the fedhead holding you down. As the fedhead, you’ve got to play negotiator, babysitter, teacher, policeman and fireman. And me being about 3 years removed from my Army service… You could give the audience a good idea how bad my temper was.
Do you ever see yourself trying your hand at running a fed again? If so, what would you do different?
If the opportunity presented itself, maybe. But there’s very select few I would run it with. You are on that short list. I would run a fed with Jas again, he’s not bad. Just gotta reign him in like Russo. I talked about doing stuff with J the Ripper, I would work with him. I would need an even keeled personality to work with me. Because I don’t work too well with high-strung people. Anyone that’s trying to be alpha anything won’t sit well with me.
I would tone down the Sarge a lot. In a sense, the column I’m presenting is what I would do differently. I would pull back the reigns when something is getting too hot. I would let the handlers show me what they want. In the same token, I would be a bit harsher with those folks who are known to flake or cause trouble. I know I’m not “poltically correct”, either. However, 5 years with a sidearm and a combat knife, I kinda earned that right…
What do you currently got going on in eWrestling, if anything, other then writing here? What are your plans for columns and such at eWscene, as in what should the readers expect?
Right now, just taking a break from handling. Although, if I were to go back, I would consider angle fedding. Which means Defiance and j0lt. Possibly no Brand Wrestling. And my plans for columns here… In almost 12 years and going, I’ve seen quite a bit of things that I wish would change. Some things I do miss.
People that are expecting the grumpiness I had as the Sarge… They might want to lower those expectations, a lot. I’m gonna look at everything from all the sights I’ve seen in eWrestling. Like the dead horse fed… I’ve been in a few. And that’s depressing to see. It’s hurting our sport. So, what’s hurting the game, I’m gonna hammer it until it changes or those feds go away. But, what’s good in the sport, I’ll be their cheerleader, honestly.
We need more good in this hobby. People get into this hobby to escape what’s out there, honestly. With too many people acting like asshats, more people are just turning the computer off and doing something else. That’s not gonna do the hobby much good. So, readers should see me burn the bad and harp the good. Simple as that.
Well, we’ve covered a lot of topics today. I appreciate you taking time to sit down with me. Before we go, is there anything else you would like to say to the readers?
I want anyone that takes anything I write personally to take a deep breath and ask themselves, “Why does what he’s writing affect me?” That’s one thing I want them to ask before you send out hate mail or hate comments towards me. If I’m writing something that punches you in the jaw, there’s a reason I said it. And I’m a blunt individual.
I’ll say what someone is afraid to say in my columns. Like, if I say that your fed is hurting out game, I’m not saying it to hurt your feelings intentionally… I’m saying it because someone needs to take you outside of yourself and make you realize that you are causing harm. I’m not mean spirited, I’m just blunt.
